News03.02.2011Karat designs payload for medium-size drones ( UAV)
Addressing the demand on the Russian unmanned aviation market, Karat has designed gyrostabilized optical-electronic systems for medium-size UAVs.
At the first stage we plan to display two devices with weight not greater than 1 kg each. The first device will be equipped with a television camera, while the second one – with an infrared imaging camera. The examples are designed to be used on UAVs for surveillance, tracking and target designation. The design work has been carried out with the aim of producing unmanned aerial vehicles equipped with Karat devices for the Russian Armed Forces.
In the future, Karat plans to expand the range of systems offered for UAVs (various mass-dimensional and functional solutions) including the helicopter-type unmanned aircraft. 02.02.2011Bagheera-M system operational read more
At the end of 2010 the interdepartmental tests for modernized shipboard fire control system Bagheera-M (ÌR-123-02/03-04) were carried out. Upon tests results, the symbol Î-1 was assigned to the technical documentation and the system was made operational in the Russian Armed Forces.
Bagheera-M (manufactured by Izumrud) – is a high-accuracy three channel day&night and all-weather gun mount and uncontrolled missile weapon fire control system. The system can be installed on ships of any class and is designed to resolve a wide range of tasks: - Search;
- Detection;
- Identification;
- Acquisition;
- Automatic tracking;
Determination of current position and motion parameters; of aerial, surface and shore targets independently or on guidance from detecting stations and data collection and processing systems.
Besides, the system provides data output for firing taking into account the vessel’s own motion and maneuvers, analyzing miss distance, as well as inputting updates and fire data for attacking sea and shore targets. Bagheera-M FCS (fire control system) incorporates radar, television and thermal channels which guarantee effective system operation for targets at ranges up to 45 km.
If compared to the earlier versions, the modified version of Bagheera-M has several significant advantages both in hardware and software. It is very important that the modification reduced significantly the total system weight to enable its application on all classes of military vessels.
Karat produces and supplies a number of devices and systems as Bagheera-M components. In particular, the on-deck device Sphere-02 is used as a television, and infrared channel and a radar channel is stabilized using modernized antenna post. 16.09.2010Sphere-06 system has been developed read more
Karat engineers have designed a promising optical-electronic system Sphere-06. Thus, a multipurpose observation device was developed, designed for installation on military and civil vessels with any displacement.
The Sphere-06 system combines several gyrostabilized television channels, an infrared imaging camera, laser ranger and visual channel requiring no electric power. 04.03.2010Karat commences final modernization stage of Bagheera system. read more
Karat has began the final stage of work on modernizing the antenna post (AP) of the radar channel of the MR-123-02/3 Bagheera system.
 The Bagheera system is designed for fire control of on-board anti-aircraft artillery units and guided missiles for aerial, surface and shore targets. With the help of the radar and optical-electronic channels ( DI Sphere-02), the system performs search, detection and selection of targets, acquisition and automatic tracking of two targets simultaneously, with data generation for remote aiming and firing. The main tactical purpose of the MR-123-02 system is to provide vessels with a self defense capability from aerial attack, including attacks with low-flying anti-ship missiles.
During modernization, the radar antenna post of the Bagheera system will be equipped with a lightweight gyrostabilized platform, and the analog tracking drive control will be replaced with a digital one. The work will achieve the following results: - improved pointing accuracy of the antenna by relative bearing and elevation bearing;
- improved parameters of stabilization against rolling and pitching;
- shortened response time and improved interference immunity;
- significant decrease in weight-dimension characteristics of the AP (from 2200 kg down to 600 kg).
Furthermore modernization will allow the combined operation of the radar and the optical-electronic (DI Sphere-02) channels with co-operative digital processing of data. 02.12.2009New Karat web-site of is launched read more
